Atin ang Pinas, US-China Layas!
We are deeply concerned about the geopolitical tensions between the US and China, particularly regarding the West Philippine Sea. We firmly stand that the West Philippine Sea is ours, and we urge the government to act accordingly. The Philippine Government's inconsistent foreign policy stance puts Filipinos working overseas at risk of being caught in imperialist power rivalries. We express our support for our Filipino fisherfolk, who are at the forefront of the struggle for our territory.
No to Labor Export Policy!
It has been 50 years since the institutionalization of the Labour Export Policy under the Marcos Sr. dictatorship, and it has since broken up families in exchange for the job hunt overseas as a bandaid solution to the prevailing poverty and unemployment in the Philippines. The following administrations have since dubbed Overseas Filipino Workers as the new "Bayani" in a desperate attempt to cover up the inadequacies of the Philippine Government to provide livable employment opportunities at home.
#Justice4VictimsOfTPLC
In 2023, The Promise Land Consultancy (TPLC) lured hundreds of Filipinos to Canada using social media, promising employment through LMIA and work permits. These individuals entered Canada on Temporary Resident Visas for Visitors after paying TPLC fees ranging from $2500 to $40,000 for supposed immigration services. They later learned from a former TPLC immigration consultant that the company was not operating without the necessary recruitment agency license, among other red flags.
Free Mary Jane Veloso!
Mary Jane is the face of human and labour trafficking. As a victim of exploitation, tricked into carrying luggage with drugs to Indonesia, she also faced unfair trial in Indonesia, and was sentenced to death. A violation of international law, according to the Asia Pacific Forum on Women, Law and Development, in that death sentences are only reserved for the most serious crimes – not drug crimes.
On-going Campaigns
Learn more about the struggle of Filipino migrants in BC!
We assert that Filipino migrants deserve the utmost protection and promotion of their rights, regardless of location. Furthermore, we recognize that the migration of Filipinos abroad is a consequence of the extreme poverty and unemployment prevalent in the Philippines, exacerbated by the Philippine government's labor export policy program.
With continuous data gathering and on-ground organizing work, our campaigns aim to be a reflection of the day-to-day struggles of migrant Filipinos, offering an alternative solution to these persisting problems of society, while also connecting it to the underlying root causes of Filipino migration, poverty, and exploitation.
