Migrante BC received one of the “Everybody Active Seed Grants” from the Everybody Active Program, a joint initiative between the BC Recreation & Parks Association and the Heart & Stroke of BC and Yukon. Everybody Active provided Migrante BC members and supporters with the funds and expertise to facilitate positive change and better health among the adult and senior members of the Fillipino community with the end goal of removing barriers to physical activity. The special focus is on adults, aged 35-54, because they are the largest age segment in BC and influence the physical activity levels of children, youth and older adults. Migrante BC organized three workshops with Prof. Nora Angeles and Prof. Wendy Frisby on Participatory Research, Planning and Action, with concrete examples of Community Action here in B.C. and a Summary and Planning Session which outlined physical and recreational activities that reflected the ideas and suggestions from the two previous workshops.
